The Emerald City Opera needs an experienced Administration and Development Director who will primarily be responsible for non-profit grant proposals, fundraising, marketing, and office administration. He/she is also involved with the Board
and the Artistic Director in budgeting and planning, and works closely with the Artistic Director, providing logistical support for production of operas, concerts, rehearsals, outreach activities, and other events. This is initially a half-time contract position. The hours and work locations are flexible for most of the year and much of the work can be done from a home computer. It is typically less than half time from September --April, more than half time from May becoming full time for portions of July and August when most of the opera productions occur. Experience with a performing arts organization or similar non-profit is required. Excellent organizational skills; people and donor relations skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office; comfortable making computer software upgrades and file management; flexibility and versatility; independence; imagination; passion for the arts, especially opera; excellent written and verbal communication skills are required; ability to utilize logical, systematic and clear plans and procedures to meet objectives, while maintaining the ability to adapt to change when needed. The Board of Trustees would like to see this position grow to a full time Executive Director within 24-36 months.
