Kyoto, Japan. We are seeking an experienced front-end web developer to join our Creative/Development (CDEV) team in Boulder. The position involves working closely with designers and account managers to create beautiful, unique, and well developed digital experiences. Along with being an exceptional developer, the candidate must have strong communication skills, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, be extremely passionate, and have a creative eye. The candidate will partner with the design team to create innovative, boundary-pushing, responsive websites, landing pages, and emails that meet client objectives and above all, are on a solid foundation of code. The position will include leading and mentoring other developers and incorporate code reviews and pair programs.


What We'd Like to See

• A high level of proficiency creating interactive web applications
• Deep understanding of coding best practices including object-oriented principles, and design patterns with a focus on performance, accessibility, motion, and SEO
• Experience with Responsive and Adaptive Web strategies
• Advanced Git (branches, submodules, rebasing)
• Experience with alternative programming environment such as PHP, Node.js, Python, .NET, or Java
• Agile methodologies like Scrum and/or Extreme Programming
• The desire to work on a diverse range of challenging projects and an inclination to contribute to the creative process

Responsibilities

• Implement front end functionality for our ecommerce platform
• Maintain existing code and make improvements to increase maintainability, performance, and scalability
• Email development, including coding emails using HTML and CSS, conducting rendering testing across email clients and mobile devices
• Building websites, landing pages, and microsites based on Photoshop or Illustrator designs utilizing HTML, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL, and PHP
• Wordpress site administration, theme development, troubleshooting, and support
• Assisting the design team to promote best practices in usability and keeping pace with current web trends

Required experience

• 5+ years' experience of full stack web development using Ruby on Rails (or equivalent), JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, WordPress, APIs, SASS
Experienced with creating responsive and usable web applications from original artwork files (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc)
• Basic skills in Linux and MySQL administration
• ECommerce development such as Magento Experience or Woocommerce
• Extensive knowledge of rapidly evolving front-end frameworks and libraries such as: jQuery, Grunt, Gulp, Node, Angular, Backbone, d3, CoffeeScript, Bootstrap
