EXPERIENCE AND BASIC REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Professional and Scientific Positions and Individual Occupational Requirements for Geography Series, GS-0150)
A.Degree:geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that include at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields.
B. Combination of education and experience:courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: In addition to meeting the basic requirement, applicants must have the following:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
One year experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level performing the following:1) design, develop, test and implement land description GIS data, specifically derived from TAAMS, GCDB, Metes and Bounds, and Rights-of-Ways, and resolution of this data's various land description issues, along with demonstrated awareness of how these land description resolutions are applied in support of NIOGEMS; 2) combine data related to land surveys/descriptions, mineral Agreements, leasing, ownership tracts, and oil/gas wells, and other energy/mineral related data for input into the NIOGEMS and other GIS databases and onto maps for publication, demonstrating direct application of the data development tools from ESRI's ArcGIS, Erdas, and development GIS products used in support of NIOGEMS; 3) vector and raster handling techniques, such as used in the preparation aerial imagery, elevation data, supporting map reference layers (e.g., roads) coupled with the interpretation of this data for specific use for Indian Tribe'soil and gas production and energy/mineral activities; and; 4) serve as a subject matter expert and advisor to an organization/agency in map generation and GIS data processing.

- Demonstrated technical knowledge in the use of specific GIS/Mapping and productivity software packages: ArcGIS, Erdas, Microsoft Office, NIOGEMS
- Demonstrated knowledge of specific federal GIS data sources: GCDB, Census, etc.

- Oral and written communication skills
