Your background must demonstrate experience in a variety of cleaning duties, such as sweeping, mopping, and waxing floors; cleaning surfaces such as light fixtures, venetian blinds, and counter-tops; and cleaning

restroom facilities including toilets, baths, and sinks.

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume or OF-612. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The potential eligibles are then rated against the remainder of the questions. The screen-out element for this position is Ability to do the job of a Housekeeping Aid without more than normal supervision.

JOB ELEMENTS: Those who meet the minimum level of experience and training for the screen-out element will then be evaluated in each of the following job elements:

1. Work practices (including keeping things neat clean and in order).

2. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (other than blueprints).

3. Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Incumbent is required to perform work which involves light physical effort, such as that involved in using vacuum cleaners and dry mops, continually standing, bending, stooping and reaching, frequently lifting and emptying waste baskets, frequently pushing carts loaded with waste, and lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds. Incumbent is required to perform work which involves moderate to heavy physical effort, such as that involved in using heavy industrial vacuum cleaners, heavy duty floor scrubbers and buffers, frequently pushing and/or pulling carts weighing up to 600 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or carrying items weighing up to 40-50 pounds. PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL WILL BE REQUIRED.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Incumbent usually works indoors in areas, which normally have adequate heat, light and ventilation. He/she is exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions used in stripping floors, etc. He/she is continually exposed to dust, dirt, and disagreeable odors. He/she is frequently exposed to organic material, which may be contaminated and/or infectious and require special handling.
