Instructor of Accounting

SUMMARY:

Siena Heights University, an Adrian Dominican Catholic institution, is seeking applicants for a continuing position of Instructor of Accounting beginning in August, 2016. Responsibilities include

teaching 10 online courses of accounting at all undergraduate levels, program coordination responsibilities, committee responsibilities, and participation in university activities. This position offers a special opportunity to interact with a diverse population of non-traditional students, many of whom are the first in their families to go to college, in an institution where faculty and staff provide ongoing support for students. The successful candidate will work to fulfill the University’s mission to help students become more competent, purposeful, and ethical, in a teaching and learning environment that respects the dignity of all.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include teaching 10 online undergraduate courses of accounting on a ten-month contract, program coordination responsibilities, committee responsibilities, and participation in university activities. On-ground courses may also be taught under the contract, as needs require and the instructor desires.

The successful candidate will eventually be a mentor to seniors working on their projects and encourage participation in the annual Spring Scholarship Symposium. The successful candidate will serve as faculty coordinator of the online accounting program, assisting adjunct faculty and advisors with advising questions, curriculum and transfer credits, teaching, and advising improvement. The coordinator role requires occasional travel to, and more frequent teleconferencing with, staff at eight SHU learning centers across southern Michigan; close collaboration with accounting faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences; and interdisciplinary collaboration with CPS faculty and administration.
